Why Life is Like Being a Famous Dutch Model
Not too long ago I was having lunch with some of my colleagues, and I couldn’t help but notice that many of the models seated around us looked very familiar. In fact, it seemed as if every model I had ever photographed was sitting at this one table in this one restaurant in this one city! Needless to say, it caused me to ask myself the following question: If all of these models look so familiar to me, does that mean that everyone in the world looks familiar to each other? That’s when it hit me… life is like being a famous Dutch model!
How my life compares to those in magazines
As the Editor-in-Chief of WooInfo, I get to see everything from the fashion & style sections. I’ve got to tell you, people in these articles are living an unrealistically amazing life! Who wouldn’t want to be in a magazine every day, hanging out with celebrities, traveling across the world for shoots and events? It’s not what it seems though.
How my lifestyle compares to theirs
I work at WooInfo, which is an internet company that connects users with the information they need. I’m often working on projects that involve fashion and style, but it’s not my full-time job.
My lifestyle compares to theirs because I have the opportunity to get free clothes from stores, but I also choose not to spend too much money on clothes unless it’s for an event or if the piece will last long.
How I compare to them physically
I have always been fascinated by the way fashion and beauty trends are changing in different countries and cultures. So I was really excited when I heard about www.wooinfo.com, which is a website that allows you to check out the latest fashion trends from famous Dutch models. The site has some really cool interactive features, like an online calendar where you can see what’s trending for your birthday month, or how many people wore orange on Halloween this year.
My day-to-day feelings about these comparisons
I’m not so sure about this one. I think life can be like being a famous model in some ways, but also not at all. One similarity between the two is that you’re always in front of the camera and have to have your hair done and makeup on at all times–but that’s really where the similarities end. In reality, models usually live pretty solitary lives where they don’t know anyone but their handlers and agents.
How I have become comfortable with myself
I know that the way I look on the outside doesn’t reflect my inner self, but it can affect how others see me. And while I want people to like me for who I am, when they judge me based on my appearance, it makes me feel less confident. It can be really difficult to feel comfortable in your own skin and not worry about what others are thinking.
How your friends see you versus how others perceive you
Your friends know you best and love you unconditionally, but that doesn’t mean they have the complete picture of who you are. On the other hand, strangers may only know your shell. Either way, it’s important to remember that what people see on the surface isn’t always what they’ll find underneath.
