What Do You Think of These Personalized and Uniquely Signed Anti-Theft Screws?
Have your alloy wheels ever been stolen from your car? Well, we hope not and that they won’t in the near or distant future.
As you already know, if they want to steal something from your car, they will steal it yes or yes and if they are very interested, they will still take the car that may be easier and “cheaper” legally .
To protect some important items, the best thing you can do is buy anti-theft items designed to either deter theft or at least make things harder for the thieves.
As standard, all vehicles have the rims secured with universal head bolts. A lug wrench is sufficient to loosen the bolts and remove the tire from its seat. To prevent this from being so simple, there are anti- theft bolts that have a specific and “unique” slot in each manufacturer/model (although beware, because they are mass produced) that force us to have an adapter that matches that slot to be able to loosen the anti-theft bolt.
To avoid the problems that most commercial anti-theft bolts have, Ford has teamed up with EOS, a leading provider of high-end, data-driven solutions, because they have created uniquely slotted lock nuts based on the driver’s voice.
Engineers apparently record the driver’s voice for a minimum of one second, saying something like “I drive a Ford Mustang,” and use software to convert that singular sound wave into a physical, printable pattern. This pattern is then converted to a circle and used as the design for the slot and the locknut wrench or adapter.
The design also includes second level security screws that prevent the nut from being cloned or copied. The unevenly spaced ribs inside the nut, and the indentations that widen as they go, prevent a thief from making an impression of the pattern, since the wax used for the copy breaks when it is removed from the nut.
If you don’t want to use your voice, the lug nuts could feature vehicle-specific designs, like the Mustang logo, or use the driver’s initials. The design could also be inspired by a driver’s interest, for example using the outline of a famous race track or a company or brand logo.
Without a doubt, it is one more security and personalization option, however, if the “bad guys” are interested in the tire, they always have many ways to circumvent these security measures, so we can say that what you win is time and you play so that the bad guy can be discovered or leave.
