To a Safer Home: 5 Safety Concerns That Might Require You a Business Relocation

Owning a business is profitable in many ways as it must really be. The reality, however, is that there are lots of costs and risks to take and some challenges to face along the way!

One of the most important factors that a business owner pays attention to is the company’s or store’s location. Of course, it is going to be or it is the house of the business, where operations take place, where clients visit and where employees and bosses stay. Surely, the business location is very crucial for several reasons!

There is a location that becomes the home of a certain business from its onset to forever. Well, that means the place is perfect for that business, and if there were problems related to the location in the past, the business overcame it. Unfortunately though, not all businesses experience the same thing. Some companies tend to decide to move out and find a new place due to unique reasons.

If you are a business owner, you should definitely be aware of possibilities such as this. Actually, among the many reasons for business relocations, security and safety matters involved are common. Needless to say, when the business’ safety, including the people in it, is in danger, a business relocation should be one of the top considerations. To help you know more about this, here are 5 safety concerns that might require  you a business relocation!

[1] GARBAGE ISSUES IN THE SURROUNDINGS

garbage issues

According to The World Bank Group, “The world generates 2.01 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually, with at least 33 percent of that—extremely conservatively—not managed in an environmentally safe manner.

Without a doubt, a huge problem in the world is the overwhelming amount of trash daily caused by the improper waste disposal of humans (from unhealthy lifestyle, lack of discipline, waste-emitting factories, etc). Not only streets, rivers and houses are disturbed by this issue, but also some offices and businesses located in places near waste disposal areas or where people are not just responsible enough to care about the world.

This might require a business relocation because the presence of constant garbage in the office’s or shop’s surroundings is detrimental to health, especially when the smell and other bad discharges reach it through air. First, the workers and employees (and also you) staying in the office will be unproductive due to being distracted by the unpleasant odor. Second, sicknesses and diseases might be caught. Third, customers will hate to visit your store, knowing that the environment is dangerous to their health.

Garbage issues in the surroundings might also affect your business’ reputation. Especially if a competitor is eyeing on you, rumors might spread that your products and services are of poor quality because of the location’s problems. This most likely will happen for food businesses. Also, even without rumors, just when your customers know that the surroundings has garbage issues, they themselves might be hesitant to buy or take services from you. A business relocation will be indubitably needed.

[2] PRONE TO EFFECTS OF NATURAL DISASTERS

natural disasters

When a storm hits the area where your business is, whether or not the employees and workers can go to the office depends on the condition of the surroundings. As a business owner or as a boss, you must be considerate with your workers and other people in your company, especially if the weather is really hard to bear, and transportation is very burdensome.

This is also why before choosing a location for your business, it is a must to take a look if it is prone to the effects of natural disasters like the most common: floods. Not just employees but also customers will not be able to transport to your shop in these cases. Even if they need your products and services, they will not risk their safety, especially when a lot of flooding is happening.

Since the effects of natural disasters are worrisome and destructive, business profits during these seasons will be negatively affected. Even if the flooding takes less than a week, that’s still long, and the profit loss might be unpredictable. Moreover, most of the time, you cannot totally expect how long it takes. And mind you, there are other natural disasters that exist other than floods, so scrutinize if your business location is prone to any of them, or else, you might have to go for a business relocation in the middle of the year.

[3] BEING TOO CLOSE TO THE ROAD

being too close to the road

Although it is a rare reason for business relocations, being too close to the road could also be one for some people. Why? It’s because of road accidents that might involve the establishments along the road such as car crashes and lamp posts and electric posts falling down.

It is beneficial that a business is seen and exposed, so people will be aware of it and will be magnetized to it, but make sure that it is not an accident-prone area along the road.

[4] SKETCHY PATHWAYS TO THE WORKPLACE

sketchy pathways

Even if the end is a beautiful door, when the bridge going to it is wobbly, dark and scary, most people will not attempt to cross.

Ascertain that the route to your business location is safe and not sketchy, especially at night, where your workers might get harmed by robbers or people who just play around but might cause harm along the way.

Keep in mind that if pathways or routes to your location look unsafe or are really unsafe, clients will feel uneasy too. You might lose them as they do not want to visit also.

If you see risks like ones mentioned, either you help them find a better route or increase your business security, in case needed. If these will not be enough, a business relocation is there too.

[5] DANGEROUS STRUCTURES

dangerous buildings

Are there structures, walls or buildings near your business location which are seemingly or reportedly unsafe for surrounding sites such as yours? You might need to check out and make sure if they might affect your safety. Of course, the lives in your business are more important than anything else. See to it that everyone is safe and that you can assure them that there’s nothing to worry about your business location.

In case those structures that might be dangerous to nearby buildings can be talked about with their owners and constructors, do so, so that the problem can be fixed immediately. The fears can be removed, and accidents and mishaps can be prevented ahead of any possibility.

Meanwhile, if the dangerous structures are found within your own location, then be certain to take quick actions to solve the problem. Even if you are not being bothersome to nearby houses or businesses, the problem would be within your own business! It’s going to affect you big time!

Hire people who can repair those particular damaged structures which could be stairs, ceilings, walls, foundation and other crucial parts which might cause injuries if not paid attention to in a short time! However, if the building issue is too complicated and no longer workable also due to the building’s old age, go for a business relocation instead.

BUSINESS RELOCATIONS DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS

No beautiful business location is better than a safe location where employees are secure and productive and customers are convenient and comfortable! If your business is not like the latter, then a business relocation might be the answer!
