It was launched on February 24 of 2011 and was considered more of a filter than an algorithm. But in January 2016, it was included in the list of algorithms.

It was introduced in April 24, 2012 and had rollouts on seven occasions such as May 25, 2012 right to the October 6, 2016.

It focused on the backlink profiles of the ranked websites. Yes, links have been a valuable part of the SEO campaigns since the initial stages. Short to say, a link can be defined as a casting vote for your website. If a website of high authority takes a link from your site, then it is a recommendation. But if a small website, which has a low authority links back to you, then the vote is never going to count.
