How do I get Fancy Fonts on my Cricut?

This is one of the most common questions I get asked. The answer is that there are a few software options and you can use a few methods to get the fonts on your Cricut.

In this blog, I will look at the different options available to get these fonts onto your Cricut. There are a lot of people who are now using their Cricut for much more than craft projects.

In fact, there are now people using their Cricut Explore Air 2 for scrapbooking, creating signs, banners, and other paper crafts.

But if you’ve ever tried to use a Cricut to cut out text, you know that the Cricut has a serious problem with its fonts – it can’t cut out fancy fonts.

This post delves into the problems with the Cricut fonts and shows you how to get fancy fonts on your Cricut. Are you looking for the answer to the question?

How do I get a fancy font generator on my Cricut? Are you bored with the same font from your Cricut? Looking for different font styles to make your Cricut projects pop?

The following blog will show you how to download a fancy font generator and how to get it installed on your Cricut machine.

Each section will describe in detail how to do this for your Cricut machine. This month we have been busy writing blog posts for our clients.

Here are the topics. Being able to use an SVG font on your Cricut is a very useful skill especially if you want to write longer words and larger titles.

However, the process to do so is not the easiest task which is why I’ve created this blog to explain how to do it.

In Fancytexter you will get almost all kinds of fancy text generators, and symbol generators that you can use in your social media accounts.

Upload Fonts to Circuit Design Space

You can use any font in Cricut Design Space by downloading and installing the font on your computer. There are many places to find free fonts online.

For example, websites like fonts.google.com and dafont.com offer free fonts. If you’re looking for beautiful, high-quality fonts, check out Creative Market or Creative Fabrica.

If you’re looking for beautiful fonts to use for your next project, whether personal or commercial, I highly recommend checking out Creative Market or Creative Fabrica.

Most fonts that you can download for free come with a personal use license, meaning you can use them without having to pay for them.

However, if you want to sell products that you’ve made using a particular font, make sure that the font comes with a commercial use license so you don’t get into any legal trouble down the line.

 Makes a good “cuttable” font

When choosing fonts to download, picking ones with smooth, solid edges will save you time and energy. Fonts with a lot of texture or that are sketch or brush fonts will take your Cricut blade much longer to cut through.

An example of a font with smooth edges and a second font with textured edges is below. The second font might be nicer.

But the amount of time and effort your Cricut will have to put in to make all the necessary cuts and pivots around the rough edges simply isn’t worth it.

Difference between .ttf and .otf fonts

When it comes to downloaded fonts, there are generally two file types you’ll come across: .ttf (TrueType Font) or .otf (OpenType Font).

The latter usually has more advanced features than the former – think special characters, embellishments, etc. – which gives you more leeway when you’re designing with type.

If you have a choice, go with the .otf file. If not and you’re only left with the .ttf option, it’ll work just as well.

Access Fonts in Cricut Design Space

You can find the font you’re looking for by either typing in the name of the font or clicking on the “System” filter to display all fonts installed on your computer.

If you’re not using a Windows computer, don’t fret! Scroll down for specific font installation instructions for Mac, iPad, and Android devices.

The term “uploading” fonts to Design Space can be a little misleading – Design Space only accesses fonts that are already installed on your computer.

So, what I’m really teaching you is how to install fonts on your computer and access them through Design Space.

Access Special Characters in Cricut Design Space

Many fonts come with beautiful curly lines and variations of letters and numbers (you can learn more about these different variations in our glossary).

They look great, but a lot of people find them difficult to access. This is because there are different ways font designers build their fonts, which unfortunately means there are different ways to access these special characters.

Cricut Design Space only supports extra characters for what we call “PUA Encoded Fonts”. If you need to use a font in Cricut Design Space that is not PUA Encoded, you will only be able to access the basic letters and numbers (a, b, c, d, 1, 2, 3, etc).

To be able to use the extra characters that come with some fonts, you need to use a PUA Encoded Font.

We have written a simple manual on how to access the extra characters in PUA Encoded Fonts which you can find in our PUA Encoded Fonts Manual.
