Overview

Coorg famously known as the Scotland of India is the smallest district of Karnataka. Coorg is 260 km away from Bangalore and it is a 5-hour drive from there.  This beautiful hill station offers panoramic views of nature. If you are a birder, then this is the right place for you, as more than 300 species of exotic birds migrate here every winter. Coorg is also known for its coffee plantations and it is worth camping at some of the best spots.

 

Best spots for camping in Coorg 

Madikeri 

 

Madikeri is a hilltown in southern India , its known for the Raja’s seat , a simple monument overlooking forests and rice paddies. This is one of the most popular spots for Camping in Coorg. You can enjoy many activities like boat rides, jeep safari ,and strolls along the banks of a river. The duration of the camp is 2 days /1 night .

 

Wild Monsoon Adventure series 

Wild Monsoon adventure series that is aimed at camping in the monsoon. This adventure series exclusively happens once every year. It is a great way to experience an adventurous escape. You can do activities like rafting, rainforest trekking. No activities will be hindered as all activities are monsoon based. The camp duration is 2 Days /1 night.

 

Kushalnagar 

Kushalnagar is a town located in Kodagu district of Karnatak. if you love to do activities like cycling, river rafting and trekking then camping in Kushalnagar is for you. 

 

Dubare Elephant Camp 

The Dubare Elephant camp is the best place to get to know the giant and enchanting creatures better. The camp is open throughout the year. The post monsoon months (mid-September to post-monsoonrch ) are the ideal time to visit this camp since the camp is located in sylvan settings. 

 

Best treks in Coorg 

 

Thadiyandamol trek 

The 8km Thadiyandamol trek is relatively easy and offers refreshing and beautiful views of the picturesque terrain. Thadiyandamol is third amongst the tallest peaks of Karnataka, . It is elevated at the height of 5,735 feet. The sunrise from this peak is a worth watching experience . 

 

Kumara Parvatha trek 

The peak is located at a height of 5,617 feet and nestled amidst the grass-covered jungle . The trek offers enchanting  border of flora and fauna and majestic view of the western Ghats .

 

Nishani Betta Trek in Coorg 

It is one of the most peaceful trekking place in Madikeri. It is a light trek , streching up to only 8km . The trekking trail is not too arduous and can be completed n an hour .

 

Best time for camping in Coorg 

Monsoon : 

During the period from July t September, this area is more prone to landslides and heavy rainfall. This camping is not suggested in this season.

 

Winters: 

From October to February the temperature is at a 20 degree level. This time is be20-degreemping as the place is more inviting. 

Summers : 

At this time the temperature are ranging from the twenties to thirties where you can go camping but it might be little unpleasant. So, you can choose either winters or summers but not in monsoon times.
