Best Time To Visit Laka Triund Trek

Triund is a short and an easy trek. This tail goes through amazing deodar, rhododendron and oak forests. The total distance of this trek is 10 km. One can finish this trek in just 4 to 5 hours of walking. At the top one can also experience the beauty of the tibetan culture. Mcleodganj to Triund top trek will give you a stunning view of Dhauladhar Mountain and Kangra valley.

 

Temperature:

 

The temperature will vary depending on the season you are going to this trek. In the winter season the temperature can be 15 to 18 degrees at day time and at night it can be 2 to 5 degrees. In summer season the day temperature can be 15 to 25 degrees. At night it can be 8 to 10 degrees.

 

Best Season To Do This Trek:

 

This trek can be done any season of the year. The best time for this trek is Summer and Spring season (March to June). You can visit here in the Post monsoon season. This time you can get a clear view of the mountain peaks.If you are lucky then in December you can experience the first snowfall. Remember, you can avoid this trek during monsoon(July and August) and the winter (January and February) season.

 

What To Expect:

 

Lahesh Cave: While doing this trek you can explore this cave. The distance between Laka glacier to Triund is 2 km. Here you can find this amazing cave. You can camp here overnight.

 

Dalai Lama Complex: This is a peaceful place. It has a cafe, amazing library, wonderful museum. Here you can explore a new culture that will give you peace in your mind.

 

Norbulingka Monastery: Here you can see many Buddhist monks. A beautiful garden will soak your eyes here.

 

How To Reach:

 

Dharamkot is 2 km. It is a small village near McleodGanj.This is also the base camp of the trek. A 25 minutes walk takes you to Dharamkot from the bus stand. From McleodGanj one can also book a taxi.

 

Railway Station: Closest railway station is Pathankot railway station. This railway station is around 85 km away from Dharamshala. From Pathankot, you can take a bus or book a taxi. Bus can take around 4 to 5 hours while taxi takes 2.5 hours.

 

Airport: Closest airport is Gaggal airport. This airport is also known as Kangra airport. From the airport you need to book a taxi. It usually takes around 45 minutes to reach McleodGanj which is located in about 20 km.

Day-1

 

Dharamkot To Triund

 

After reaching Mcleodganj, the next morning start your trek from here. One can also start their trek from Dharamkot. You can find that the trail slowly rises. This total journey is a perfect one for birdwatchers. There are many small Dhabas at Triund. Here you can get your meal. You can pack your food from Dharamkot. It will be better. Here you can also experience the Dhauladhar range. After arriving at Triund you can stay in forest rest house overnight. At night you can experience a bonfire. The total distance of Dharamkot to Triund is 5.45 km. And it takes just four hours to complete.

 

Day-2

 

Triund To Dharamkot

 

After waking up in the morning one can get the stunning view of the sunrise then after having your breakfast you can come back to Dharamkot. You should start your trek early in the morning before it gets dark you need to reach at Dharamkot.

 

Things to Carry:

 

  1. A good pair of trekking shoes and backpack: In trekking you need to cover a long distance through walking so you should choose a pair of good trekking shoes. Trekking on the rocky, boulder part can be very slippery. You need to wear proper trekking shoes. Also, you need a good backpack with raincover.

 

  1. Toothpaste, Toothbrush

 

  1. Take some dry foods with you, you can also carry a spoon and a coffee mug with you.

 

  1. Pack some medicines and first aid.

 

  1. Take water bottles with you.

 

  1. Cap or hat and sunglasses: At the high altitude the sun is getting more harsh so you need to carry a cap and sunglasses with you.

 

  1. Hand gloves: Try to wear hand gloves which are windproof and also waterproof.

 

  1. Plastic Bags: Carry a few plastic bags to pack your wet clothes.

 

  1. A good sunscreen, towel, lip balm, moisturizer.

 

  1. Keep a pain relief spray.

 

You can easily complete this trek in your weekend. While doing this trek you need to follow the guideline given by your guide. While you are trekking then it’s mandatory to respect the local culture. You need to ask the local people before taking their photograph because many of them don’t want their photos taken. So you need to respect their wishes.
